Brighton and Hove for Europe are recommending, and campaigning for, Remain candidates.

Voting recommendations

Brighton and Hove for Europe is a non-party political organisation: our members include supporters of the Conservative, Green, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties. Our voting recommendations below are across the range of parties supporting a People's Vote, and are based on the recommendations of the various tactical voting sites. We recognise that some of our members will want to campaign for their own parties during a general election; as a group as a whole, we are simply backing Remain.

Please note that recommendations are subject to change as polling is updated. We will keep an eye on the polling and the tactical voting sites, and make any changes on this page accordingly.

BH4EU voting recommendations for Brighton and Hove

We are lucky here in Brighton that our sitting MPs are all strong supporters of a People's Vote. We recommend that pro-EU voters in the city vote for their current MP, pictured here with BH4EU's Frances Bill.

Kemptown: Lloyd Russell-Moyle (Labour)

Pavilion: Caroline Lucas (Green)

Hove: Peter Kyle (Labour)

BH4EU voting recommendations for nearby constituencies

There has been a lot of talk of voting tactically in the coming election. Most of the parliamentary seats around Brighton are safe Tory seats, but in the marginal constituencies of Lewes, Crawley and Eastbourne tactical voting could make a difference. BH4EU recommends voting tactically in these seats for:

Crawley: Peter Lamb (Labour)

Eastbourne: Stephen Lloyd (Liberal Democrats)

Lewes: Oli Henman (Liberal Democrats)

In addition, we have strong links through Women 4 Europe with the wonderful Rosie Duffield in Canterbury. She is the sitting MP and best placed to keep the Tories out, especially now the LibDem candidate has withdrawn. So we recommend:

Canterbury: Rosie Duffield (Labour)

Other nearby marginal seats where we are recommending candidates are:

Hastings and Rye: Peter Chowney (Labour)

Portsmouth South: Stephen Morgan (Labour)

Winchester: Paula Ferguson (Liberal Democrats)

Southampton Itchen: Simon Letts (Labour)

BH4EU is considering organising campaigning trips to nearby marginal constituencies. If you are interested in participating in such a trip, please contact us via the email link at the bottom of the page.

Tactical voting resources

There has been a lot of coverage of tactical voting in this election campaign. Fortunately for those of us who live in and around Brighton, the major tactical voting sites give exactly the same recommendations for all the constituencies we have recommended above.

The site tactical.vote has a handy tool for comparing the various sites' recommendations. Simply enter your constituency and see what each site recommends.
